I 3d printed an embedded bowden coupler, that finally failed at the worst possible time. then again, it’s never a good time when something fails.
i went googling for a bowden coupler and i landed at a website wonderfully-named oozenest. i saw this coupler, and liked it because it was black. i saw the price and thought to myself, it’s a tad on the cheap side and may not to be all that great. but i decided to order one and take a chance on it. my 3d printer was sitting idle until it arrived. which thankfully was on;y 24 hours, thanks to the wonderfully fast shipping times at oozenest. i fitted it, and quickly realised it was rather great and needn’t have worried about it. when testing the bowden tube in the coupler there was a small amount of movement in it when pulling on the tube, but when the coupler is attached to the e3d (or clone) and the tube is inserted, i am pleased to say that the tube is locked solidly in place, and now there is no movement at all in the tube.
best of all the tube removes quickly and easily when you want it too.
this coupler isn’t spring-loaded like the brass ones, but don’t let that put you off. the tube doesn’t budge until you depress the collar and pull the tube. then it comes out easily.
this is a blessing, as the brass one i received initially from china when i bought the tube was a nightmare. the tube went in easily enough, but try as i might, the tube never came back out (believe me i tried everything). in the end i had to cut the tube.
so, as i said, this bowden coupler from oozenest is cheap and quite-frankly brilliant. and if black isn’t your thing, they have a white one too !
