Duet IR Height Sensor is designed to detect a precise target height by measuring the reflection of light from two LEDs. Because the LEDs reflect at different heights, the sensor can trigger accurately across a range of surface types. Optimised for 3D printing applications, it is commonly used for bed probing and Z homing, but it can also be applied in other motion control systems where reliable height detection is required.

It does as advertised and appears to be very accurate. I use it with the Duet 3d wi fi board. I am that impressed with Duet thinking of buying another for my bigger printer.

Cheaper than a BLtouch, requires less wiring/setup and is a much better probe in my opinion, it is however a little more awkward to mount, this is the latest V1.3 Version and I highly recommend it, setting up my Z height and map has never been so easy!

I mean it’s not cheap (that’s why 4/5 value for money) but it’s amazing how much better it is than the Chinese clones. Not sure it is worth the money for everybody, but it sure was for me. Does work on the stupid Geeetech build surface (that I hate) and borosilicate glass. Did not have luck with my 3d printer tape though. Much faster and more accurate than BLTouch tho
