Detect filament movement on a 3D Printer using a Duet Laser Filament Monitor. Combined with a Duet 2 or 3 Controller, the controller can use the information supplier by the monitor to determine if the filament has run out or jammed.
The Duet Laser Filament Monitor is available for 1.75mm Diameter Filament only.
Molex plug and pins are provided, along with a length of Capricorn XS Tubing. The Capricorn tubing acts as the filament guide for the Duet Laser Filament Monitor.
Results may vary depending on the filament. It has proved less effective to certain types of PET-G.
Warning: The Laser Filament Monitor is a Class 1 Laser device: Under normal conditions, the laser beam is always below the IEC/EN 60825-1:2014 maximum permitted output level of 716uW according to the manufacturer of the optical sensor; nevertheless we advise against looking into the beam when the filament monitor is powered. You should most definitely not look at the sensor through magnification when it is operating. The laser beam is invisible infrared, therefore your eye blink reflex will not protect you!
